Chalcoscirtus diminutus (Banks, 1896)
The two North American congeners of Chalcoscirtus diminutus are boreal, ground dwelling spiders. The present species, while not boreal, has been found in leaf litter and taken in pitfall traps. I observed several of these spiders moving up and down the siding of a small cottage indicating that individuals do, at times, leave their terrestrial habitat. Along with the noticeable "long white clypeal fringe" noted by Edwards, the individuals I have seen (all males) showed a distinct pattern on the dorsal surface of the abdomen.
