In 1999, after naturalizing in North America for more than a quarter of a century, I took my first trip to the New World Tropics. Like many first time visitors to these fabled lands I chose a Central American destination. Although there are vast areas of productive rainforest in South America, the various countries along the isthmus of Middle America as well as several outlying islands offer an interesting variety of habitats, an extraordinary diversity of animal and plant life, and an ever increasing choice of comfortable eco-lodges and field stations. Yes, the New World Tropics are a naturalist's paradise. The following clips offer a neotropical appetizer - eye-candy that I hope will tempt you to plan your first trip or motivate you to continue your explorations of one of the richest natural areas on planet Earth.
